GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (News First) — Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of KY 80 and Central Road on Friday afternoon in response to a non-injury, two-vehicle collision.
Deputy Chad Hall, who responded to the scene, determined that Brendan Ellegood, 26, of Mayfield, was driving northbound on Central Road when he collided with a vehicle stopped at a stop sign. Ellegood admitted he did not see the other vehicle until the collision occurred.
Deputy Hall detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from Ellegood’s vehicle. A subsequent search revealed marijuana and cocaine. Ellegood was arrested and charged with DUI, possession of a controlled substance in the first degree (cocaine), and possession of marijuana.
Ellegood was transported to the Graves County RC Center and later moved to an out-of-county facility by Graves County Jail staff. Deputy Hall was assisted at the scene by Deputy Ben Doran, Deputy Austin Ramage, and the Kentucky State Police.
