Project to create new entrance to The Marketplace Shopping Center

PADUCAH, Ky. (June 12, 2024)  A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a southbound work zone lane restriction on U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road in the Lone Oak area of McCracken County on Thursday and Friday, June 13 & 14, 2024.

This southbound work zone restriction at U.S. 45 mile marker 7 is to allow the construction of an entrance to improve access to businesses in the Marketplace at Shopping Center.  Due to access issues created by the addition of turn lanes at the new KY 1286/North Friendship Road intersection with U.S. 45, this new access point will provide the Marketplace businesses a direct connection to U.S. 45 in the 2800 block of Lone Oak Road.

Starting at 6:30 a.m., CDT, Thursday, all southbound traffic will move to the left-hand or passing lane to allow demolition work along the curb area.  This southbound work zone restriction is expected to be in place for about two days.  When the southbound driving lane reopens, remaining work will be completed with traffic barrels along the curb line.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

This work zone will be along the U.S. 45 southbound lanes immediately south of the KY 1286/Friendship Road and Lakeview Drive intersection.  Construction of the new access point had to wait until construction of the new traffic signal was completed for the U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road intersection with KY 1286/North Friendship Road and Lakeview Drive.

Harper Construction is the prime contractor on this entrance project.  The project is expected to be completed in about three or four days, weather permitting.
