MAYFIELD, Ky. (News First) — On June 28, 2024, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Deputy Peyton Jackson and Deputy Austin Ramage conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on US 45 North between Mayfield and Hickory. Deputy Ramage contacted the operator, Edward Ellegood, 50, of Mayfield, and his passenger, Amber Zib-Poot, 39, of Mayfield.
During the traffic stop, K-9 Storm and Sgt. David Harrison with the Mayfield Police Department were called to the scene to conduct an open-air sniff around the vehicle. K-9 Storm indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle.
Deputy Ramage and Deputy Jackson conducted a search based on the results from K-9 Storm and Sgt. Harrison. The search yielded approximately a quarter of an ounce of methamphetamine, 13 hydrocodone pills, and drug paraphernalia, including scales. Ellegood also showed signs of impairment and was found to be under the influence of controlled substances.
Ellegood and Zib-Poot were both arrested and transported to the Graves County RC Center and later transferred to an out-of-county facility by Graves County Jail staff.
Ellegood was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (two grams or more of methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree (pills), drug paraphernalia (buy/possess), DUI, 2nd offense, and a traffic offense.
Zib-Poot was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (two grams or more of methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree (pills), and drug paraphernalia (buy/possess).
