The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that a culvert replacement project will require a weekend closure in both directions of Illinois 149, 4.8 miles west of Thompsonville and 4.5 miles east of West Frankfort in Franklin County, starting, weather permitting, at 6 p.m. Friday, July 12.
A posted detour will be in place to safely guide motorists around the closure. By 6 a.m. Monday, July 15, Illinois 149 will reopen to one lane with traffic signals to finish the off-road work.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all detour signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
