🌡A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service through 8 pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Heat indices are expected to be near 106° in the City of Farmington.
The City of Farmington would like to remind citizens that if relief is needed from the daytime heat, any City building that is accessible to the public during normal business hours may be used as a cooling shelter.
Cooling Centers will be available at the following locations:
•Farmington City Hall, 110 W Columbia St, between 8 am and 4:30 pm
•Farmington Police Station, 310 Ste Genevieve Ave, 24/7
•Farmington Fire Station, 222 E Columbia St, 24/7
•Farmington City Light & Water/Development Services Office, 101 S Jefferson St, between 8:00am and 4:30pm
•Farmington Public Library, 101 N A St, between 10:00am and 9:00pm
•Farmington Civic Center, 2 Black Knight Drive, between 5:00am and 8:00pm
Farmington Emergency Management Director Joshua McAtee would like to remind residents to take extra precautions during the high temperatures to prevent heat-related illnesses. Limit outdoor activity if possible. Drink plenty of water and wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. Schedule outdoor activities in the early morning or evening if possible. Also remember to never leave people or pets in a vehicle, and monitor those at risk, such as children, the elderly, and people with chronic health conditions. If you suspect someone is having a heat stroke, call 911.Â
