Work to take about a week to complete
PADUCAH, Ky. (July 18, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a daytime work zone lane restriction along the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 near the 20 mile marker in Marshall County starting Monday, July 22, 2024.
This westbound work zone lane restriction from about the 20 mile marker to near the 18 mile marker is to allow brush cutting along the the divided section immediately east of the U.S. 68 Paducah-Reidland Exit 16 interchange. The brush cutting crew will be working from near the KY 1610 (Mount Moriah Road) Overpass to near the KY 1042 (Sharpe School Road) Overpass along the median and the outside shoulder area where several trees have fallen during recent storms.
All westbound traffic will initially move to the right-hand or driving lane in this work zone to allow the crew to work in the median area. Once work is completed along the median, the crew will swap lanes to allow work along outside shoulder.
Westbound motorists should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach the 20 mile marker. This work zone is expected to be active from about 7:30 a.m., CDT, to about 3 p.m., each day, anytime weather permits.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
Brush cutting work in this area is expected to take about a week to complete.
