MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (News First) — The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for Class #7 of the Citizen’s Academy. The academy will take place on October 17, 24, 30 (the only Wednesday, due to Halloween falling on Thursday), and November 7, 2024. Classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night.
The Citizen’s Academy offers a comprehensive look at the operations and responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Office. Topics may include:
- Patrol Operations
- Courthouse Operations
- Criminal Investigations
- Overview of the Legal Process
- Constitutional Duties of the Sheriff
- Tour of the Department, 9-1-1 Center, and the Jail
- Specialized Units: K-9, SWAT, Accident Reconstruction, Drones, Coroner
- Firearms Day (voluntary)
- Virtual Reality Scenarios for Use of Force/Firearms
Participants will have the opportunity to learn how their Sheriff’s Office works, see advanced tools and techniques, get their questions answered, and meet the dedicated individuals who serve their community.
