On 08/29/2024 McCracken County Sheriff’s Department responded to McKendree Church Rd. for a single vehicle rollover collision. Maurice Baucom (19) of Paducah was driving south bound on McKendree Church Rd. When Baucom approached the intersection with Childress Rd he was exceeding the posted speed limit. The hill crest in the roadway caused his vehicle to leave the roadway momentarily. When the vehicle came back down onto the roadway Mr. Baucom lost control and veered left causing the vehicle to enter the ditch on the north bound side of the roadway. Mr. Baucom’s vehicle was vaulted upward and rolled over several times before coming to rest alongside a bean field.

     Mr. Baucom sustained possible incapacitating injuries and was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

On 8/28/2024 at approximately 5:40 AM, deputies were dispatched near the intersection of Cairo Rd and Maxon Rd for a single-vehicle motorcycle collision with injuries. It was determined 40-year-old Harold Collins of Paducah, KY was operating a motorcycle and exited the roadway in an attempt to avoid a collision. Collins was transported by Mercy Regional Ambulance Service to a local hospital for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Concord Fire Department, Mercy Regional Ambulance, and Meadows Towing. Please be aware and cautious of motorcycles on the roadways, especially during the nice weather due to the increase of motorcycles.

08/27/2024 McCracken County Deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle near Lee’s Heating and Air on Clark River Road. Mark McDowell of Hopkinsville, KY was driving a white Dodge Truck that was of interest in a recent theft. Thanks to the assistance of the public, McDowell was located and identified. McDowell was charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking $1,000< $10,000 for unlawfully taking scrap AC units from Lee’s Heating and Air over the course of a few weeks. McDowell was lodged at the McCracken County Jail and an image of him can be obtained from their website.

On 08/22/2024 Andrew Marcus Allen was arrested today after being released from a local hospital. Allen had an active Probation Violation warrant in McCracken County and pending felony charges in Tennessee.

The arrest followed a traffic stop in Ballard County, during which Allen allegedly ingested illicit drugs, leading to a medical emergency. Deputy Collins of the Ballard County Sheriff’s Office acted quickly, recognizing Allen’s condition and calling for an ambulance, likely saving his life. After confirming Allen’s hospitalization, deputies took him into custody upon his release without incident.

On Tuesday, August 13,2024, at about 1:40AM, a Deputy with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop at Old Mayfield and Bleich Road. The driver of the vehicle was 30-year-old Austin Potter of Paducah, Kentucky. During the investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted and revealed a quantity of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia inside. Potter was arrested and lodged at the McCracken County Regional Jail.

On 08/11/2024 the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Murray man on traffic and drug offenses after responding to a complaint of an impaired driver.

At approximately 215am Sunday morning, deputies received a complaint of an impaired driver driving on I-24 near the 15-mile marker. Deputy Cameron Thomason located the vehicle on the shoulder of the interstate. During a roadside investigation, Deputy Thomason determined that the driver, 65-year-old William McCustion of Murray, Kentucky, was under the influence and placed him under arrest. During a search of McCustion’s person the deputy located Cocaine and Marijuana edibles. The deputy also located and seized three handguns from McCustion’s vehicle.The investigation revealed that McCustion had been on the way to take the Cocaine found in his possession to another individual.

McCustion was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.Charges: Operating a motor vehicle under the influence, trafficking in Cocaine, failure of owner to maintain insurance, and possession of Marijuana

On July 30, 2024, at 3:40 p.m., deputies responded to an injury collision at the intersection of US-60 and Cairo Road. The investigation revealed that Shanna Cornwell, 24, of Kevil, Kentucky, was driving a 2012 Chevy Equinox eastbound in the turn lane, preparing to turn left onto Cairo Road. As she crossed the westbound lanes of US-60, she was struck on the front passenger side by a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by Rachel Tinker, 31, of La Center, Kentucky, who was westbound on US-60 and unable to avoid the collision.

Brantley Tinker, 12, was also a passenger in the minivan. Cornwell was transported to a local hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Both vehicles sustained moderate to severe damage, with airbags deployed.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Patrol Division was assisted by the West McCracken Fire Department and Mercy Regional EMS. Larry Stovesand Towing responded to clear debris and remove the vehicles.


On Monday July 29th, 2024, at approximately 1:30 pm, Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office traveled to an apartment complex in the Lone Oak area as part of an on-going investigation into a theft from a vehicle.

With the help of tips from the public, Deputies identified a potential suspect in the case.

While attempting to interview the suspect, Deputies discovered illegal drugs inside the suspect’s apartment, including suspected Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, marijuana, and various prescription medications. 

Additionally, items that had been reported stolen from the original theft case were located inside the apartment.

On July 25th, 2024, at approximately 10:07PM, deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of Hansen Road after an alert from an iPhone crash detection. Upon arrival, it appeared to be a single-vehicle rollover collision with possible injuries. Through investigation, it was determined that Reid Waltmon, 20 years old of McCracken County, was operating his vehicle eastbound on Hansen Rd. His vehicle exited the roadway to the left, striking a telephone pole, causing it to overturn and land on its side.

Reid Waltmon and his passenger Emma Waltmon, 19 years old of McCracken County, were transported to a local hospital by Mercy Regional EMS for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Concord Fire Department, Mercy Regional EMS, and Randy’s towing.


On 07/25/2024 At approximately 0145 hours this morning, Amanda Selph of Kevil, KY was driving a GMC Yukon westbound on Blandville Road when she lost control of the vehicle. Her vehicle left the roadway and struck the wooden support beams for the railroad overpass at Blandville Road near Childress Road.

Amanda suffered incapacitating injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means. She was transported to a local hospital for initial treatment of injuries, with further treatment at an out-of-state hospital likely due to the severity of her injuries.

Blandville Road was closed between McCracken Blvd. and Childress Rd. for approximately 2 ½ hours.

Representatives from Canadian National Railroad responded and advised an additional roadway closure lasting an estimated 2-4 hours will be likely later this morning to complete necessary repairs to the railroad overpass.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Concord Fire, West McCracken Fire, Mercy Ambulance, McCracken County D.E.S., Stovesand’s Wrecker Service, Canadian National Railroad, and the single passerby who stopped to render aid and call 911 on Amanda’s behalf.


On 7/24/2024 deputies were patrolling the Lone Oak area in an attempt to locate a subject who was wanted on 5 counts of an Emergency Protection Order (EPO) violation. Deputy Latta observed the vehicle on Blandville Road and conducted a traffic stop. Jason Chapman, 47 of Paducah, KY, was detained and ultimately taken into custody on the warrant. Deputy Latta deployed K9 Bobi and the vehicle was searched. Upon a search of the vehicle, a quantity of methamphetamine along with paraphernalia was located. Open containers of alcohol were also located within reach of Mr. Chapman. Corporal Little assisted in the drug charges and lodged Mr. Chapman in the McCracken County Jail.

On 07/16/2024 detectives stopped a vehicle on South 6th Street in Paducah. During the roadside investigation detectives located small quantities of Methamphetamine, synthetic Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. A passenger in the vehicle, 33-year-old Joshua Luna, was charged in connection with the drugs.

In early July detectives investigated Fentanyl trafficking in the Lone Oak area of McCracken County. A McCracken County Grand Jury heard testimony from a drug detective and indicted 27-year-old Lucas Carter of Gilbertsville, KY, and 22-year-old Brenda Morefield of Benton, KY on two counts of trafficking in Fentanyl. Morefield and Carter were both arrested during traffic stops in McCracken County. Morefield was arrested on 07/17/2024 and Carter was arrested on 07/22/24.

On 07/24/2024 detectives received information that 46-year-old Troy Ashford of La Center, KY was involved in illegal drug activities at Carson Park in Paducah. Detectives located Ashford. During the investigation, detectives conducted a search of Ashford’s vehicle and located small quantities of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The investigation also revealed that Ashford had trafficked in small quantities of Marijuana. Ashford was arrested.

Luna, Carter, and Morefield were lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail. Ashford was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

On 07/23/2024, McCracken County deputies were dispatched to a local business located in the 4000 block of Clarks River Road, Paducah KY for a reported theft. Once on scene, deputies learned that a suspect had driven up to the property on a modified go-cart and cut multiple copper wires from a breaker box. The box was damaged during the theft.

At approximately 2354 hours, deputies were dispatched to the Five Star on Clarks River Road. It was reported that the go-cart and the male matching the description were currently on the property. Deputies responded to the Five Star and identified the male as Jason C. Peace of Paducah KY.

Through investigation, it was determined that Peace had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. During the search, deputies located a glass smoking pipe containing methamphetamine. Peace was arrested and lodged at the McCracken County Regional Jail.

On 07/24/2024 detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at Mr. Peace’s residence. During the execution of the search warrant, Kimberly Humphrey, of Eddyville KY was located. Detectives recovered the stolen copper wire and small quantity of methamphetamine. Humphrey was arrested and lodged at the McCracken County Regional Jail.

On 07/20/2024, the Mayfield Police Department arrested Dylan Sanchez, age 23 of Mayfield, after receiving a call reporting Sanchez walking down the road while under the influence of intoxicants. During the investigation, it was determined that Sanchez was, in fact, under the influence and due to him being a danger to himself and others, he was placed under arrest. While placing Sanchez under arrest, he refused to follow the officers’ instructions, and began to resist. After a minor struggle, Sanchez was taken into custody, and charged with Alcohol Intoxication In A Public Place 1st offense and Resisting Arrest.  Sanchez was transported to Marshall County Jail. 


July 22, 2024 – Two juveniles and two adults were arrested Monday morning after a Reidland business was burglarized, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to an alarm at approximately 4:32 a.m. on July 22 at a business in the 5000 block of Benton Road. Upon arrival, deputies observed broken glass but no suspects on the scene. The business had been targeted in past burglaries and thefts.Security camera footage provided deputies with descriptions of four suspects and the vehicle they used during the burglary. Shortly after, deputies located the vehicle in the Reidland area. Four individuals inside were arrested, and some stolen items were recovered and returned to the owner.The suspects were charged with Engaging in Organized Crime, Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, and Possession of Burglary Tools.The adults, Dylan Morris, 19, of Benton, and Josiah Pace, 21, of Paducah, were lodged in the McCracken County Jail. The juveniles, ages 17 and 16, were lodged in the juvenile detention center in Paducah.


July 18, 2024 11:14 PM: Deputy Brendan Weldon attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Goodman Street & S. 28th Street. The vehicle failed to stop and continued down Goodman Street. The vehicle traveled through the residential neighborhood for a short time and ultimately stopped in the front yard of a residence on Schneidman Road. The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, later identified as Christopher Burrow (39) of Paducah, fled from the vehicle on foot. A short time later, Burrow was located in the area and taken into custody without incident. We were assisted in the search by the Paducah Police Department. Christopher Burrow was lodged at McCracken County Regional Jail on the below listed charges:

On July 15, 2024, at approximately 3:14 PM, a McCracken County Sheriff’s Office Deputy responded to the 300 block of Oaks Road for a physical disturbance. As the deputy was arriving, he observed a male threatening a female with a large knife.

Immediately upon the deputy exiting his vehicle, the male, later identified as John Taber, began moving towards the deputy with the knife. After a short period of time, the deputy, along with other deputies and an officer from Paducah Police Department, were able to take Taber into custody. As deputies investigated the origins of the fight, they discovered that Taber had superficially stabbed his mother with the knife. She was treated and released by Mercy Regional Ambulance Service. 

Taber, 21 years old of Paducah, KY, was lodged in the McCracken County Jail. Taber was charged with Assault 2nd Domestic Violence, Menacing (two counts), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (police officer), Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct 2ndDegree.

More criminal charges are possible as the investigation continues. At the time of this release, a photograph of Taber was not available. On 07/2024 – Deputies from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision on North Friendship Road near Buckner Lane. Ethan Rix, 21, of Paducah, KY, driving a 2012 Ram 1500, attempted to pass vehicles in a no-passing zone and struck a 2019 Hyundai Tucson driven by Nora Jean Robinson, 74, also of Paducah. Both vehicles went off the road into a wooded area, damaging state signs. Robinson was taken to a hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Rix received a citation for improper passing. The Concord Fire Department, Jason’s Towing, and Stovesand’s Towing assisted at the scene.


On 07/08/2024, deputies responded to the 5600 block of Oaks Rd for a report of theft of property. When deputies arrived, it was learned that someone had stolen several tools and trail cameras. Additionally LED lights on an excavator located on the property had been cut off. The property owner had photos taken from his trail camera before it was stolen, which showed a male and a female trespassing on the property just prior to the thefts.

After a brief investigation, the male and female were identified as Anthony Adkins and Beatrice Ford, both of Paducah, KY. Adkins and Ford lived in a camper not far from the property where the thefts occurred. Deputies then went to Adkins’ address to speak to him about the photos. On initial contact, no one came to the door. While checking to make sure there wasn’t a back exit to the camper, deputies saw items that were reported stolen lying next to the camper. Deputy Miller then sent a photo of those items to the property owner, who confirmed the items belonged to him. Deputy Miller then obtained and executed a search warrant for the camper. Deputies found more stolen items as well as a quantity of methamphetamine. Both Adkins and Ford were arrested and taken to McCracken County Regional Jail. Both Adkins and Ford were charged with Trespassing 2nd Degree, Possession of Meth (2nd offense), and Receiving Stolen Property $1000 <$10,000.


On 7-10-2024 at approximately 0647 hours, deputies responded to the 2600 block of Estes Ln for a single-vehicle collision with injury. Investigation revealed that Keith Hays of Paducah was operating a 2015 F-150 eastbound on Estes Ln. Hays had a medical emergency causing him to lose consciousness and exit the roadway on the right-hand shoulder. Hays struck a large tree at the edge of the road and came to rest in the ditch. Hays was extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means by Reidland Farley Fire Department and transported to a local hospital by Mercy Regional EMS for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Reidland Farley Fire Department, Mercy Regional EMS, and Stovesand’s Towing.

On July 9, 2024, McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Peppers Mill  Drive and Pershing Way to the complaint content thefts from unlocked vehicles.  Through investigation, deputies learned that during the early morning hours, at least two individuals took items from unlocked vehicles in this neighborhood.  It has been reported thus far that a handgun and US currency were taken from unlocked vehicles.  Deputies currently believe that the suspects were not from the neighborhood as it appears that a car was used in the thefts.

Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the neighborhood, but at this stage in the investigation none of the footage is useful.  Detectives are asking for residents in the neighborhood to review any surveillance footage that they may possess to determine if there is useful footage that may identify the suspects. Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance for any information that may lead to arrests in this investigation.

July 8, 2024 @ 2:03 PM: The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1900 block of Gholson Road regarding a vehicle vs. motorcycle collision. The investigation revealed Alexander Babb (30) of La Center was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle, northbound on Gholson Road. Lucy Turnbo (19) of Paducah was operating a 2024 Mazda sedan, exiting a residential driveway on Gholson Road. Babb collided with the front of the Mazda sedan. Babb was transported to a local hospital for treatment of incapacitating injures and was later pronounced deceased. We were assisted at the scene by Mercy Regional Ambulance, Concord Fire Department, McCracken County DES and Larry Stovesand Towing. Please keep the Babb family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

On Thursday, July 4th, 2024 at approximately 1350 hours, deputies were dispatched to the area of Lovelaceville Road and Pepper Lane for a collision with injuries. Through investigation, it was determined that Rachel Boone (31 years of age, from Paducah) was operating a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer inbound on Lovelaceville Road. Just before reaching Pepper Lane, Boone’s vehicle went off the roadway, overcorrected, and it overturned several times. The vehicle struck a utility pole before coming to rest. Boone was transported by Mercy Regional EMS to a local hospital for non-incapacitating injuries. As a result of the collision, a utility pole was damaged, and utility wires were covering the roadway.

The roadway was shut down for approximately 3 hours. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lone Oak Fire Department, Mercy Regional EMS, McCracken County DES, and Stovesand’s Towing.


On Tuesday afternoon the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office arrested a McCracken County woman for trafficking in Methamphetamine during a joint investigation with the Paducah Police Department

On July 2nd, 2024, detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and the Paducah Police Department executed a search warrant at 1143 Oaks Road in McCracken County after an investigation revealed that illegal drugs were being sold from the home. Detectives located 31-year-old Jessica Rogers, who was living at the residence, inside. During the search warrant service, detectives located quantities of Crystal Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Synthetic Marijuana, smoking pipes, scales, and other drug paraphernalia. Detectives also seized $1165 in US currency that was believed to be proceeds of illicit drug sales.

Detectives arrested and charged Rogers in connection with the drugs located during the investigation. Rogers has a previous conviction for trafficking in Methamphetamine, enhancing these new charges to a second or subsequent offense. Rogers was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail. Additional arrests are forthcoming in this investigation. Arrested: Jessica M.
