This week, Farmington city officials will begin demolition on the brick section of A Street in Farmington, located in front of the Farmington Public Library at 101 North A Street.
Unfortunately, the bricks are not a feasible long-term material for the street. Due to high traffic and natural shifting of the ground, the bricks have become uneven and need costly repairs. The conversion from brick to pavement will be the most cost-effective and sustainable solution to making the street functional for the public.
The changes will allow the City of Farmington Street Department to maintain the area more effectively over the years. The brick has been in place since 2015.
The City of Farmington would also like to inform residents that contractors for AT&T, Circle Fiber, Aptitude Internet Solutions, and Socket are in the area to perform telecommunications upgrades. The contractors, regulated by the Public Service Commission and not the City of Farmington, will be constructing a fiber optic network to serve the area.
