MAYFIELD, Ky. (News First) — Sheriff’s detectives from Graves and Calloway County Sheriff’s Offices arrested three individuals Tuesday afternoon in a covert drug operation that led to the seizure of various illegal substances and a firearm.

Jacob B. Gaither, 25, and Kelli R. Buchanan, 24, both of Murray, along with Dylan T. Wiggins, 24, of Graves County, were apprehended around 5 p.m. near Walmart in Mayfield.

Wiggins was initially observed purchasing approximately an ounce of crystal methamphetamine from Gaither and Buchanan, under surveillance. After the transaction, detectives arrested Gaither and Buchanan on Paris Road, finding them in possession of cocaine, over $3,000 in cash, and other items.

As detectives moved in to arrest Wiggins, he discarded a 9mm semi-automatic handgun in the Walmart parking lot and dropped baggies of methamphetamine while trying to flee. Wiggins was eventually subdued with a Taser.

Further searches revealed additional amounts of crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl in Gaither’s vehicle parked near Mayfield Middle School. A subsequent search at Gaither and Buchanan’s residence in Calloway County uncovered more illegal items.

Arrested:

  • Dylan T. Wiggins, 24, Graves County, Ky.
    • Charges: Trafficking in a 1st Degree Controlled Substance (Meth), Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Tampering with Physical Evidence.
    • Previous convictions: Burglary, Tampering with Evidence, Bail Jumping, felony theft.
  • Jacob B. Gaither, 25, Murray, Ky.
    • Charges: Trafficking in a 1st Degree Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a 1st Degree Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Trafficking in a 3rd Degree Controlled Substance, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance within 1,000 Yards of a School, Possession of Marijuana.
  • Kelli R. Buchanan, 24, Murray, Ky.
    • Charges: Trafficking in a 1st Degree Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana.
    • Previous convictions: Forgery, Bail Jumping, Theft, Cocaine and Methamphetamine possession.

A Cadillac Escalade belonging to Wiggins and a Chrysler 200 belonging to Gaither were also seized. All suspects were transported to out-of-county detention centers with the assistance of Mayfield Police Department.
