The Articles of Impeachment against Desloge Mayor Peter Pasternak have been released. Pasternak was impeached in June after a series of allegations were presented to the board earlier this year. The articles state Pasternak failed to follow proper procedures when surveying and submitting potential storm damage, including driving while intoxicated and not being authorized to survey the damage. He has also been accused of showing animosity towards staff members, causing bad morale.
The city alleges that Pasternak “demonstrates disdain for decorum in certain circumstances,” treating members of the public differently with a similar disdain for other election and appointed officials. Pasternak has been accused of not appropriately responding to or passing along citizen complaints to city employees and officials.
Desloge City Hall has confirmed to News First that Pasternak has not yet been removed from office. A city official says the Mayor Pro Tem will take office when that happens, although a date was not disclosed.
