Residents of Dent County are being warned by the sheriff’s department to lock their homes and vehicles as law enforcement continues to search for a wanted man who they say could still be in the county. Garrett Wood is described as a white man, has brown hair and hazel eyes and is in his mid 30’s. He was last seen on foot wearing a hot pink t-shirt. Deputies had been on a vehicle pursuit with Wood but he escaped arrest.
One specific area of interest is off Highway ‘W’ near Dent County Road 4280, about six miles east of Salem as deputies continue to search that area for Wood. Police say if you do spot Wood to not contact him but to call the sheriff’s department immediately. Wood has two warrants out on him, issued in the spring, for forgery and failing to maintain financial responsibility of a vehicle. He’s also wanted for drug trafficking from a couple of months ago.
