LEADWOOD, Mo (New First) – Residents of Leadwood will be happy to know another hurdle has been taken in the quest to improve the town’s old, antiquated water system. The Leadwood Community Betterment Association’s Facebook page says officials have been approved to bid out the work on the new water system. Once a bid is approved, it won’t be long before the contractor breaks ground on the project. For years, Leadwood residents have had to deal with less-than-desirable water which has been described as stinky, bad tasting and the wrong color. Last year, welcome news was given that the City of Leadwood had received a U.S.D.A. Development Grant for a little more than $3.3 million, a U.S.D.A. Development Loan for a little more than $2.1 million and a Community Development of $750,000, all to be used to improve the town’s water.
