WASHINGTON CO, Mo (News First) – Two men were injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in Washington County. The highway patrol says the accident took place on Highway 47 north of the Highway 47 Loop Road when a Chevy Silverado driven by 81-year-old Charles C. Carlyon of Bismarck was stopped on 47 in the southbound lane at a traffic control device when his truck was struck from behind by another pickup truck, a Ford Ranger, driven by 65-year-old Patricia Peck of Sullivan. The patrol says Peck was inattentive to the road.
Upon initial impact, both trucks began to skid off the right side of the road. After leaving the road, the front bumper of Carlyon’s Silverado struck the traffic control device. Peck’s Ranger also came back onto the roadway, continued skidding back across the roadway, and ran off the road. Carlyon and Peck both received moderate injuries. Carlyon was taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital in Potosi while Peck was taken to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis.
