NEW YORK CITY (News First) – The St. Louis Cardinals continue their juggernaut portion of their schedule against dominant teams and the Redbirds surprisingly have got the best of most of them. In mid-August, the Cardinals dropped 2 of 3 games to the National League West-leading L.A. Dodgers. Since then, the Cards have taken 2 of 3 from N.L. Central-leading Milwaukee, took 2 of 3 from a wildcard playoff team, the Minnesota Twins, they split four games against an N.L. wildcard team, the San Diego Padres and this weekend, St. Louis was in New York and took 2 of 3 from the American League’s best team, the Yankees. The Birds dominated the Yankees on Sunday with a 14-7 win. Jordan Walker led the Cardinals’ 21-hit attack by going 5 for 5 with a home run, and 3 RBIs and he scored 4 runs. Lars Nootbaar also had a big game, going 3 for 5 with a homer, 5 RBIs and he scored 2 runs. St. Louis’ rough schedule doesn’t get any easier. The 69-68 Redbirds will start a 3-game series this (Monday) afternoon in Milwaukee against the 80-57 Brewers.
