OSAGE COUNTY, Mo (News First) – A 7-year-old girl and a 30-year-old man lost their lives after a boating mishap Sunday evening on the Gasconade River in Osage County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident took place on the Gasconade just upstream from Pointer’s Creek when a 2002 Gatorboat driven by 30-year-old Reven Newbound of Owensville was traveling upstream when a root wad was struck, causing the vessel to collide with a rock bluff. Newbound and a 7-year-old girl from Owensville, a passenger, were both pronounced dead by the Osage County Coroner. Four other passengers, including three children, received serious injuries. They were taken to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
