Portions of our region have not received measurable rain in over five weeks. Needless to say, the ground is very dry. There have been numerous brush fires over the past week.

I don’t have good news when it comes to rain. We have a cold front entering the region Friday. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible along the front. Most areas will remain dry.

Gusty winds will accompany the front Friday and Saturday. Low humidity levels Saturday through Tuesday will bring enhanced fire risks.

The graphic above shows the seven-day rainfall forecast.

Top soil moisture shows extreme dryness.

Use care if you must burn leaves, brush, or fields. Some counties have burn bans. Be sure and check with your local emergency management officials.
