WASHINGTON CO, Mo (News First) – One person is dead and another seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident that took place Thursday morning in Washington County. The accident took place on Highway 21 near Gildea Road. The closest communities where the crash took place are Belgrade and Caledonia. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 73-year-old Charlette A. Schloemer of Caledonia was traveling northbound on 21 in a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox when she was attempting to pass another vehicle but a 17-year-old male juvenile from Irondale was driving southbound on 21 in a 1989 Toyota pickup. Schloemer’s vehicle and the teenager’s truck both struck head-on. Schloemer was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Coroner Steve Hatfield. The teen suffered serious injuries and he was taken to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
