ST LOUIS (News First) – A player the St. Louis Cardinals probably wish they hadn’t dealt away, helped beat his former team Sunday. Seattle’s Randy Arozarena smashed a 2-run homerun and the Mariners added three more first-inning runs and that would be all the Mariners would need to beat the Birds at Busch Stadium. The final score was 10-4 as Seattle took the series 2 games to 1. Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas had a horrendous start, throwing only 2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 7 runs. He took the loss, dropping his record to 8-11.

Jose Fermin and Jordan Walker of the Cardinals both went 1-4, driving in the four Redbird runs. They had 2 RBIs apiece. St. Louis is 72-71 with 19 games left in what’s looking to be another disappointing season for the Cardinals. In the division, the Birds are in 3rd place, 10 games behind first-place Milwaukee. In the wildcard race, St. Louis is 6 games back of the final playoff position. The Cards are off on Monday and then will start a 3-game series against Cincinnati on Tuesday night.
