BISMARCK, Mo. (News First) – Rumors of an alleged threat circulated the Bismarck R-3 school district on Thursday (Sept 12th), prompting administrators to share a letter with families.

The district says it was notified of an alleged threat made by one of its students in high school. Administrators immediately pulled the student in question, involved its School Resource Officer, and spent many hours investigating and interviewing students who were reported to have been talking about the alleged threat.

Administrators, along with local law enforcement, investigated the claims, speaking with the student who allegedly made the threat. Their conclusion states it was only a fast-spreading rumor and no threat was ever made. Therefore, no students or staff were ever in danger.

Bismarck is the latest of the several area schools that have had alleged threats in the past week, following Farmington, North County, and Potosi.

Students are encouraged to notify an adult if they hear or see anything in the future.
