FARMINGTON, Mo. (News First) – A former employee of a Missouri state prison, located in St. Francois County, appeared in U.S. District Court on Friday to answer drug charges. 53-year-old Steven M. Reminger was indicted Thursday on three felony charges: conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances, attempt to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances and making a false statement. Reminger pleaded not guilty to the charges on Friday. The indictment alleges the drug conspiracy began in November of 2021.
The indictment says Reminger made a false statement on November 8th of 2021, by providing a false name to employees of the U.S. Postal Service when applying for a Post Office Box in Farmington. Reminger’s attempt to possess controlled substances occurred on May 24th and 25th of 2022. That’s according to the indictment. A forfeiture allegation says $19,000 in cash, knives and cell phones were seized on May 25th, 2022. Reminger could get up to 25 years in federal prison if he’s found guilty.
