ST. LOUIS (News First) – Just a few minutes into the match and St. Louis SC was up 1-0 over Minnesota in front of the hometown fans at City Park and the day was looking promising. St. Louis’ Cedric Teuchert’s (toy-SHIRTS) right leg drilled the soccer ball into the back left corner of the net four minutes into the game. But by the half, those good vibes were gone as Minnesota tied the match in the 24th minute of play.

Not long after the second half began, Minnesota made it 2-1 with a goal in the 52nd minute. Minnesota made it a 2-goal lead during the 62nd minute of play when they took advantage of a penalty kick after City was called for a hand-ball penalty. St. Louis had a few more excellent scoring opportunities but they just could not put the ball in the net.

SC falls to 5-11-13, still tied with Sporting K.C. for 12th place in the Western Conference. K.C. plays tonight (sunday) in Seattle. City’s next game will be late next Saturday night in California against San Jose, the only team that sits lower in the standings than St. Louis. San Jose’s record is a lowly 5-21-2.
