On September 22, 2024 at approximately 3:30am deputies were called the emergency room at the Murray Calloway County Hospital in reference to an assault victim with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that the victim was assaulted at their residence on Rob Mason Road. Deputies went to this location while speaking to the suspect, Kenneth Benjamin, another physical altercation took place between Benjamin and another individual. While attempting to separate them a deputy was punched in the face. The deputy did not require medical attention. Benjamin was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.

On August 24, 2024, at approximately 6:00pm, narcotics detectives with the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 641N near Coles Campground Rd. for traffic violations. The driver, Ronald Fry, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine along with hallucinogenic mushrooms. Fry was currently on parole for numerous felony convictions including manufacturing methamphetamine.

On September 6, 2024, deputies, with the assistance of Probation and Parole, arrested Fry on warrants stemming from this investigation. Fry was also served a parole violation warrant for absconding supervision along with numerous other infringements. He was transported to the Calloway County Detention Center where he was lodged with no bond.

On Sep 3, 2024. at approximately 9:30pm deputies conducted a traffic stop on Industrial Road in Murray. The driver was non-licensed and did not have insurance. He also stated he was not going to comply with deputy’s directives and leave the scene in his vehicle. He was taken into custody after physically resisting arrest and found to be in possession of a handgun while being a convicted felon. He was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.

On Sep 3, 2024, at approximately 4:00am deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 94E. The driver, David Bugden who is out on bond from the Calloway County court system, was believed to be manifestly under the influence of substances that impaired his driving. Narcotics detectives responded and located 5.5 grams of methamphetamine, a large sum of money and paraphernalia consistent with trafficking. He was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center. Bugden was out on bond after he was indicted with four counts of receiving stolen firearms in March of this year. In April of this year, he was charged again, this time with felony receiving of stolen property, and again released on bond. Bugden has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1999.

On Sep 3, 2024, at approximately 4:00am deputies attempted to locate Tammy Windsor at a residence on Lancaster Road in reference to outstanding arrest warrants. She was found to be in possession of illicit drugs. Also located in the home was Darren Brandon who was also found in possession of drugs. He is currently out on bond stemming from similar charges in July of this year. They were both arrested and transported to the Calloway County Detention Facility.

On 8/30/24, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Cypress Rd and Otts Rd. The Sheriff’s Office had received a tip that Richard Sager, w/m, was seen in the area. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office had active arrest warrants for Criminal Attempt to Commit 2nd Degree Murder which stemmed from an incident on a prior date.

Upon arrival at the location, officers did locate Sager’s vehicle and officers had reason to believe that Sager had fled on foot just prior to officer’s arrival.

Through a coordinated effort between the Henry County SO, Tennessee Highway Patrol, THP Aviation Unit, Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, TN State Park Rangers, and EMA, agencies set up a containment perimeter. After approximately four hours, Sager was taken into custody.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all agencies involved. Through the quick response of all agencies and the use of THP Aviation Unit and drone usage by EMA, law enforcement was able to apprehend Sager without incident.


On Aug 27, 2024 at approximately 6:00pm narcotics detectives executed a search warrant on Barnett Street in Hazel. Two individuals were in the residence. Sammie Smock would not comply with detectives’ commands initially but was eventually placed in custody. Ricky King was found attempting to dispose of illicit drugs. Both were lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.

On Aug 26, 2024, at approximately 8:45pm deputies responded to a residence on Seth Lane for a welfare check. While attempting to assist EMS to render needed medical aid, the subject became combative injuring two of the deputies. He was transported to Murray Calloway County Hospital and admitted for issues unrelated to the physical altercation. He was given a citation with a court date for the below listed charges. The two deputies that were injured where checked at the emergency room and released to full-duty.

All subjects were lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.

On August 20th, 2024, at approximately 1:00pm, narcotics detectives observed Randolph Jackson operating a motorcycle on South 4th St. in Murray. Detectives knew that he had a suspended operator’s license, and numerous outstanding warrants for his arrest. A traffic stop was conducted, and he was found to be in possession of synthetic “K2 Spice”, marijuana and crystal methamphetamine. Jackson is currently on supervised probation stemming from similar charges. He was arrested and lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.

On August 15th, 2024, at approximately 1:30pm deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 641N. Detectives with the Calloway County Narcotics Division responded and with the aid of Marshall County Sheriff’s Office K-9 “Drax”, determined that the passenger in the vehicle, Amanda R. Cope, was found to be in possession illicit drugs, some consistent with trafficking. 58.0 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, a quantity of Fentanyl Pills, Suboxone, and several other drug paraphernalia related items were located. Cope is currently on probation where she plead guilty to Trafficking Methamphetamine 2nd Offense in 2019.

The driver of the vehicle, Lora L. Carroll, was found to have a suspended operator’s license and is legally prohibited from operating a motor vehicle on the roadway. Both individuals were placed under arrest and transported to the Calloway County Detention Center where they were lodged.

On August 2, 2024 – CALDWELL COUNTY, Ky. – Sheriff Knight attended a ceremony today where KY 293 was officially named the “Jody Cash Memorial Highway.” This dedication honors Cash, who was tragically murdered in the line of duty in 2022. As a Princeton native, it was fitting for Sen. Whitney Westerfield to sponsor the naming of this portion of the highway in Cash’s hometown.

On July 29, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm, narcotics detectives from the Calloway County and Marshall County Sheriff’s Offices conducted a controlled purchase of a schedule III controlled substance on North 12th Street in Murray. Joey Duncan sold 50 dosage units of Suboxone to another party from inside a vehicle. Deputies approached and arrested Duncan. He was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Facility.

The driver was found to be in possession of a container containing multiple types of pills along with devices used to ingest the medication after it is crushed. On July 29, 2024 just after midnight deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Kevin Sargent at a residence on Stateline Road East. Sargent was located and found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.

The warrant stemmed from a traffic stop in September of 2023 where deputies located a briefcase containing over 19 grams of methamphetamine that appeared to be packaged to sell, high-grade THC marijuana extract, Diazepam pills, over 10 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, marijuana, and other items consistent with trafficking illicit drugs. He was also found to be in possession of a firearm.

On July 22, 2024, at approximately 10:00pm deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 121S. The passenger, Joshua Colson, was found to possess illicit drugs. Colson was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine for the first time in 2020; and again in 2023. He was still under supervised probation at the time of his arrest that had been revoked for violating the conditions. Colson was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Facility.

On July 22, 2024 Cody Hicks was arrested on a warrant after allegations of child abuse. He was lodged at the Calloway County Jail.

On July 21, 2024 at approximately 4:30pm the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Calloway County Fire/Rescue and Murray Calloway County EMS were contacted via 911 to respond to State Route 121 North near the Potts Road intersection for a vehicle verses motorcycle collision. James P. Davis, 39 of Murray, was transported to the Murray Calloway County Emergency Room for treatment but succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

Davis was eastbound on Hwy 121N and believed to have left his lane of travel into the on coming lane on a motorcycle. He collided with a Ford Escort. There were no other injuries caused from the collision.


On July 15, 2024 Robert Lima was arrested on an indictment warrant that was issued in May 2024 by the Calloway County Circuit Court. At the time of his arrest he was out on bond from similar charges in Marshall County earlier this year. Lima was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Facility.

Bobby Etheridge is believed to be in possession of a stolen firearm that he threatened others with during a physical altercation. He was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.
