PILOT KNOB, Mo. (News First) – The Arcadia Valley in Iron County will be hopping this weekend. Presiding Commissioner Jim Scaggs invites one and all to the Battle of Pilot Knob Civil War Reenactment at Fort Davidson.

Scaggs has attended the reenactment several times. He tells us about his favorite part of this huge event which is held once every four years..

The Civil War reenactment will take place at the Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s hours are 8 to 5 and Sunday’s hours are 8 to 3. There will be modern and historic vendors on hand, along with food and drink vendors. You can also visit the Union and Confederate encampments and learn about the life of a Civil War soldier. There will be periodic demonstrations of military tactics and marching throughout the day on Saturday and in the morning on Sunday. The main battle reenactment will start at 1:30 on both days. Also, at about 8:30 Saturday night, the fort powder magazine explosion will be re-enacted. And motorists traveling to Pilot Knob from Highway 221, don’t forget a portion of that road is completely shut down. You will have to use a detour, so plan accordingly.
