The remnants of Hurricane Helene will move into our region tonight and continue into the weekend.

Here is the latest track forecast. The D over our region means tropical depression.

I am forecasting widespread rain to arrive tonight and continue into Saturday. Rainfall totals will vary, but a general one to three inches of rain will blanket our region. We need this rain. We are in drought.

Here is the latest drought monitor map. You can see widespread drought across our region.

There is a significant risk that there will be bands of heavier rain totals. Some data shows three to five+ inches. That can’t be ruled out. Generally, however, you can expect one to three inches.

Here is the NOAA/WPC rainfall outlook. Keep in mind that totals will vary.

The good news is that we are not anticipating severe thunderstorms or tornadoes. Occasionally, tropical systems do produce tornadoes.

There will be gusty winds with this system.

Wind gusts of 15 to 30 mph will be possible. There could be higher wind gusts, as well. The National Weather Service held off on issuing wind advisories. They will reevaluate this afternoon and evening.

A flood watch will cover the Missouri Bootheel and northwest Tennessee. That was issued by the Memphis, Tennessee, National Weather Service.

The Paducah, Kentucky, National Weather Service held off on issuing watches over Missouri, Kentucky, and Illinois.

Here is the flood watch for the Bootheel and Tennessee. Avoid flooded roadways.
