At approximately 7:00 AM, Friday, September 27, 2024, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office began receiving complaints of thieves roaming through neighborhoods on the western edge of Paducah. Deputies and detectives immediately responded to the area to begin investigating.
During the investigation, deputies and detectives received multiple videos from neighborhood residents showing two people searching through cars and entering garages. Most of the attempted thefts appear to have occurred between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM. The thieves were wearing hooded sweatshirts, gloves, and masks, in an effort not to be identified, because they know they are wrong.
People stealing hard-earned money or items from others is nothing new. However, it has not been common for these criminals to enter garages while people are most likely inside sleeping. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office asks residents to please lock their vehicles, lock their doors, close their garages, and if so equipped, set their house alarm.
“To the criminals preying on hard-working people of McCracken County. You will be caught. For your sake, I hope it is by law enforcement. If caught by a homeowner, inside a residence, in West Kentucky, good luck.”
