A four hour long standoff on Thursday September 26, 2024 resulted in the peaceful arrest of 42 year old Phillip Stout. Stout, from Paducah, KY, was arrested pursuant to a probation violation warrant, two contempt of court warrants, and a bail jumping warrant, with the underlying charges being Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Trafficking in Opiates, Trafficking in Marijuana, and other charges.
After receiving information that Stout was at a residence in the 6000 block of Mayfield Metropolis Road, deputies attempted to locate Stout at the residence. Stout ultimately barricaded himself in a room and made threats of harm. Multiple deputies responded to the area and the roadway was closed to attempt to protect the public. Deputies discovered that firearms were accessible to Stout during the early stages of the standoff.
Crisis negotiators and the Special Service Team of the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and immediately began to open a line of communication with Stout. A little over four hours later, Stout came out of the residence peacefully and deputies were able to take him into custody.
The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges from the standoff are likely.
The MCSO was assisted by Concord Fire Department, West McCracken Fire Department, Mercy Regional Ambulance Service, and McCracken County Emergency Management.
The MCSO appreciates the public’s patience during the time the roadway was closed and apologize for the inconvenience.
