MAYFIELD, Ky. (Oct. 11, 2024) — A traffic stop early Friday morning led to the arrest of two Murray residents on methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia charges.
At approximately 12:15 a.m., Deputies Austin Ramage and Tyler Crane stopped a vehicle on KY 80 East, about two miles east of Mayfield. Mayfield Police Sgt. David Harrison and K9 Storm were called to the scene, where the dog alerted to the presence of illegal drugs. A search of the vehicle uncovered two bags of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia with methamphetamine residue.
The driver, Jacqueline Ann Carter, 50, and passenger, James A. Strickland, 45, were arrested and taken to the Graves County RC Center before being transferred to an out-of-county jail facility. Both face charges of first-degree possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Carter was also cited for traffic offenses.
Graves County Sheriff’s Office Detective Tony Cornwell assisted in the arrest.
