PERRY COUNTY, Mo. (News First) – A man from Benton, Missouri was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle accident in Perry County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident took place on I-55 at mile marker 127, just south of the Perryville exit, when a deer ran onto the interstate and was struck by a 2017 GMC Terrain driven by 55-year-old Michael G. Smith of Benton. The deer was also struck by a 2017 Toyota 4-Runner driven by 65-year-old Leigh Rampley of Jackson. Rampley’s 4-Runner then ran off the road. Rampley was not injured but Smith received moderate injuries. He had to be taken to Mercy Hospital Perry in Perryville.
