PADUCAH, Ky. (News First) — A 64-year-old man from Gilbertsville was killed Monday in a crash on Interstate 24, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office said.

Eric Jackson was driving westbound near the 11-mile marker when his 2005 Mercury Mariner collided with a 2021 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Anne Calderone, 39, of Grass Lake, Michigan. Investigators said Jackson was attempting to change lanes when he struck the front of Calderone’s vehicle, causing his SUV to overturn multiple times before coming to rest in the westbound lanes.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton.

Both westbound lanes were closed for about four hours during the investigation. Emergency services, including Mercy Regional Ambulance and the Reidland-Farley Fire Department, responded to the scene, along with Lent’s Towing and Stinnett’s Towing.

The sheriff’s office is asking the public to keep Jackson’s family in their thoughts.
