Work expected to be completed Monday
PADUCAH, Ky. (Oct. 18, 2024) – The new Soldier Creek Bridge on KY 2603 (Vanzora Road) in Marshall County is scheduled to open on Monday, Oct. 21, more than a year and a half after closing.
The bridge, located at the 1.17 mile point of Vanzora Road, closed to traffic on March 6, 2023 after inspectors found deterioration of the bridge’s substructure. Prior to closure, the bridge was operating under a reduced weight restriction.
Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers was the prime contractor on this $1,389,024 bridge replacement project. Crews will be placing guardrails on the bridge on Monday morning, after which the roadway will reopen.
