WASHINGTON, DC (News First) – World Agricultural Outlook Board Chairman Mark Jekanowski discusses the October Milk Supply and Demand Forecasts for this year and next.

“We’re seeing very strong demand recently, consistently, especially for cheese and butter. And that demand strength is both in domestic and international markets. So dairy products on a fat basis. We’re seeing some import growth for both 2024 and 2025 as consumers pull in both the cheese and butter from overseas markets. On the other hand, we’re also exporting more cheese and butter because of the strong global demand as well. In terms of products on a skim solid basis, so nonfat dried milk in particular, we have relatively competitive prices right now. So we’re seeing some growth in our exports on a skim solid basis. But we expect in 2025 to lose some of that competitive advantage as US prices are likely to remain relatively high, especially relative to global prices. So we adjusted slightly to lower our export forecast for dairy products on a skim solid basis for 2025,” Jekanowski states.

According to dollargeneral.com, the cheapest price News First found for a gallon of Prairie Farms whole milk at Dollar General Stores is $2.25.
