FARMINGTON, Mo. (News First) – The drought situation in Missouri let up for a while in southeast Missouri but it may be a problem again soon. Looking at the latest drought map for the state of Missouri, much of the state is back to moderate, severe to extreme drought conditions. Most of southeast sits in the abnormally dry category. Most of Crawford County and a good chunk of Shannon County, mainly in the northern part of the county, are both experiencing moderate drought conditions once again. Historically with moderate drought, the fire threat increases and burn bans begin. Pond and river levels decline, the topsoil is dry and urban watering is extensive.
