MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. — The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to an old scam resurfacing in the area. Over recent days, multiple reports have been filed about individuals posing as local law enforcement officers, claiming the victims have outstanding warrants for missing jury duty.

The scammers often use technology to make the calls appear to come from legitimate law enforcement phone numbers. They instruct victims to make payments to avoid arrest, typically through prepaid credit cards or cryptocurrency deposits. During the calls, victims are often directed to stay on the line and not discuss the matter with anyone.

Authorities emphasize that law enforcement agencies will not contact individuals by phone regarding warrants, nor will they request payment over the phone.
