JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (News First) – U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey has sentenced a St. Louis County man to federal prison who was caught arranging for his illegally possessed guns to be sold.
The 63-month sentence for 47-year-old James C. Street will run consecutive to pending probation violation cases in Jefferson and St. Louis counties, according to a news release by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Street pleaded guilty in July to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He admitted that while a convicted felon and barred from possessing firearms, he possessed three pistols and an AR-style rifle. The investigation began after the St. Louis County Police Department learned that Street, who was in jail at the time, was discussing the sale of his firearms.
Police then contacted the ATF. Street sold a .357 magnum revolver through an intermediary, which was later recovered by law enforcement. Investigators learned Street was planning more sales. A court-approved search of the intermediary’s home recovered the remaining guns, as well as ammunition and large-capacity magazines. At the time, Street was already on probation for multiple felony domestic offenses.
