PADUCAH, Ky. — A man with a history of driving under the influence and multiple outstanding warrants led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through McCracken and Massac counties on Sunday afternoon before being arrested in Paducah.
At approximately 2:12 p.m., a deputy with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office observed Lamar Wilson, 40, operating a vehicle in front of a business on Hinkleville Road. The deputy recognized Wilson, knowing his license was suspended and that he had multiple warrants for failure to appear in court.
When the deputy attempted to stop him, Wilson initially pulled into the business parking lot, then sped off, maneuvering through no-parking zones and weaving between concrete pillars. Wilson entered Interstate 24 heading east, then turned around and drove west on the interstate. Deputies terminated the pursuit before the Ohio River bridge due to Wilson’s erratic driving.
Law enforcement in Massac County spotted Wilson and attempted to stop him again, but he fled back into Paducah via the Brookport Bridge. A deputy tried to use a tire deflation device, but it failed. However, a Paducah police officer successfully deflated Wilson’s tires on North 8th Street.
Wilson lost control at the intersection of Park Avenue and Fountain Avenue, then fled on foot into a nearby cemetery, where officers apprehended him.
Wilson was transported to the McCracken County Jail and faces charges including driving on a suspended license (second offense), 15 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and fleeing or evading police. He also faces charges on three warrants for failure to appear in court on DUI and drug-related cases.
