WASHINGTON COUNTY, Mo. (News First) – A woman from Potosi is dead and four others injured after a three-vehicle accident Wednesday in Washington County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident took place on Highway 21 near Flamewood Road, north of Potosi when a 2008 Mercedes GL-Class driven by a 48-year-old man from Irondale and a 2008 Ford F-150 driven by a 21-year-old woman from Bonne Terre were both traveling northbound on 21. A 2016 Chevy Traverse driven by a 59-year-old Potosi woman was traveling southbound on 21. The Mercedes crossed the centerline and struck the front of the Traverse.
The Mercedes returned to the northbound lane and traveled into the path of the Ford F-150. The truck struck the right side of the Mercedes. The woman driving the Chevy Traverse was pronounced dead at the scene. A 59-year-old male passenger in the Traverse received moderate injuries. The driver of the Mercedes received moderate injuries and two passengers in that vehicle received serious injuries, a 34-year-old woman from Irondale and a 37-year-old man from Cuba. All injured were taken to hospitals for treatment.
