MADISON COUNTY, Mo. (News First) – A chill is finally in the air and that’s perfect timing for hunters. Missouri’s firearms deer season begins Saturday morning, November 16th. Hunters should be aware of Chronic Wasting Disease or C.W.D. Chronic Wasting Disease is a deadly illness in white-tailed deer. It has been found in Missouri and has been slowly spreading.
Most of the News First counties do have mandatory C.W.D. testing for the first two days of the season, this Saturday and Sunday. You can find each county’s testing stations on the M.D.C. website. Local counties where testing is not mandatory are Madison, Iron, Reynolds, Wayne, Carter, Butler, Stoddard, and Cape Girardeau counties.
