SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (News First) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reporting two more flood-related deaths because of the severe flash flooding that happened across the southern half of Missouri earlier this month. The patrol’s report says two men from Dixon, a 52-year-old and a 55-year-old, both drowned in the Gasconade River last Thursday. It happened near Riddle Bridge Access in Pulaski County. The patrol says at an unknown time on November 7th, the two men were in a vehicle that became submerged in the floodwater of the Gasconade.

The men were reported missing later that day and their bodies were located the next day after a surface search took place. News First counts at least five drownings in Missouri because of the major flooding. The first was in Iron County when an Ironton man drowned in Big Creek in Ironton when his vehicle was swept away. Also, two elderly poll workers drowned early on election day morning, on their way to their assigned polling location in Wright County, when their vehicle was also swept into raging floodwaters.
