If you are having trouble finding someone to bring you firewood to heat your home this winter, there are many places you can go and you can do it yourself so to speak with a small fee. Becky Ewing is a forest ranger in the Mark Twain National Forest and says you can just stop by their office in Potosi.

Ewing says there is a lot of Mark Twain National Forest out there. So, whether you are in Madison, Reynolds, Washington, Iron or Reynolds County, there’s probably a firewood permit spot where you wouldn’t have to venture too far from your home.

The Mark Twain National Forest Service office in Potosi is located near the Washington County Fairgrounds, just off Highway 8 near the Highway 185 intersection. They are open Monday through Friday from 8 until 4:30.
