FARMINGTON, Mo. (News First) – The City of Farmington wants motorists to be aware of a couple issues in town. One is happening Monday as a major street in town will be temporarily closed. Here’s Kristen White with details. She’s the communications coordinator for the City of Farmington.
“Columbia Street will be shut down for the day. It’s not the whole street. I believe it’s between Franklin and Jefferson. They’re going to be doing some work on the water lines there. So there’ll be a detour in place in the downtown area. You’ll still be able to get around downtown, but just kind of use some caution and make sure that you’re watching for the detour signs,” she says.
White says another area of Farmington that motorists should keep their eye on is Maple Valley Drive and Valley Creek Drive, located in the Maple Valley Shopping Center.
“Chick-fil-A has opened. We are anticipating high traffic in that area for quite some time. There were some changes made there at the intersection as you’re coming out. It’s between Jack in the Box and Aldi. That has become right turn only. Just make sure that you’re following those street signs, that you’re using good judgment there in that area because it is probably going to be pretty busy for a while,” she adds.
In other Farmington city news, bids are now being accepted for upcoming civic center and water park renovations.
