ST LOUIS (News First) – The St. Louis Blues front office is hoping a coaching change will put some life back in their hockey team. Drew Bannister was fired over the weekend and Jim Montgomery has been hired to be Bannister’s replacement. Montgomery is the 2022 Jack Adams Award winner. He joined the Blues five days after he was fired by the Boston Bruins.
Bannister took over for Craig Berube after Berube was fired last season. The team signed Montgomery to a five-year contract. St. Louis is just 9-12-1 this season, that’s good for 19 points. The Note are 11th out 16 teams in the Western Conference and 5 points out of the final playoff spot. St. Louis will play the 12-6-1 Rangers on Monday night in New York.
