ARCADIA VALLEY, Mo. (News First) – The two semifinal games and one consolation bracket game were played last (Wednesday) night at the Arcadia Valley Thanksgiving Boys Basketball Tournament in Ironton. All three games were broadcast on Show Me Live Radio. One of the semifinals had second-seed West County against third-seed Fredericktown. This one was close throughout with both teams swapping the lead through the first three quarters. Here’s how the final seconds of the third quarter sounded.

The fourth quarter was the difference maker as West County put up 19 to Fredericktown’s 9, giving the Bulldogs the 55-45 victory and the right to play for the 98th Turkey Tournament championship trophy tonight (Thursday). In last (Wed) night’s other semifinal, fifth-seed Lesterville gave a valiant effort against first-seed South Iron but the Panthers were just too much for the Bearcats. The final was 62-35. Show Me Live also broadcast the Arcadia Valley/Bismarck consolation bracket game. The host Tigers get their first win of the season, defeating the Indians 59-36. David Prater shares his thoughts. He’s the A.V. coach.

Coach Prater loves the fact that his school is the host of this tournament which has drawn nearly three nights’ worth of close-to-capacity crowds at the J.D. McGuffey Gymnasium.

You can expect another packed gymnasium for tonight’s (Thursday) final three games of the Arcadia Valley Thanksgiving Tournament. Coach Prater and his A.V. Tigers get the night going at 5 when they play Ellington for the consolation bracket trophy. At about 6:30, it’s the third place game between Lesterville and Fredericktown, and then at 8 o’clock on this Thanksgiving night, it’s the championship game between South Iron and West County. Pregame coverage on Show-Me Live, at streamingrules.com, will get underway at 4:50 this (Thursday) evening.
