ARNOLD, Mo. (News First) – A 33-year-old suspect from St. Louis is in custody following an alleged robbery, police pursuit, home invasion, vehicle theft, and crash investigation that started in Arnold and ended in Ste. Genevieve County early Sunday (Dec 8th).
At around 9 am, a subject wanted in a suspected robbery in at a 7-11 in Arnold fled and led multiple law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase through Jefferson and Ste. Genevieve Counties in a stolen Porsche, authorities shared on social media. The vehicle stopped in rural Festus/Jefferson R-7 near the Hawthorn Hills subdivision and the driver fled on foot. The suspect unlawfully entered a home, where a female was present. Inside, he stole cash and the victim’s vehicle. As the suspect fled in that stolen vehicle on Waggoner Road, he crashed into a car operated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and was taken into custody.
“The suspect was taken in custody,” Sheriff Dave Marshak said during a Sunday afternoon press conference. “At this time, we have additional information that the same suspect may have been involved in other incidents as well. We believe the vehicle was stolen. We also have another burgarly in our jurisdiction right before the robbery we think may be part of that crime spree as well.”
Authorities believe the suspect committed other crimes before arriving in Jefferson County. They are working with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Arnold MO Police Department as their investigation continues.
The departments confirm the incident is an ongoing investigation and cannot comment any further as to how many shots were fired and if any weapons were found at the scene.
