FESTUS, Mo. (News First) – The City of Festus has seen some major growth in the last several years. Here’s City Administrator Greg Camp.

“It’s been amazing since I’ve been here. I started with Festus in 2017. We were just beginning to start to feel some of that percolate and the pandemic really, it was transformational. One, because of all the things that we had to do to get through that, but I think it opened people’s eyes how special Festus is as a community. There’s a wonderful school district here, there’s wonderful neighborhoods here, there’s great places to go and play and shop, and you don’t have to be in the St. Louis Metro to do all those things,” Camp says.

He continues, “And I think for a lot of folks that suddenly realize that telecommuting and working remotely was something they could do, they didn’t have to be in the St. Louis Metro to do that, then they start looking a little bit down 55 and next thing you know, there’s Festus. So the amount of growth that we’ve had, the housing starts that we’ve had, we were talking about another 160 apartment units with a developer that is just wrapping up a 200-unit development in our community is just amazing. I’ve been part of some projects in the past or some community projects in the past where you see a little growth spurt here and a little growth spurt there, but to have something like we’ve experienced I think in the last four or five years has been pretty spectacular.”

Camp says the Festus City Council has been discussing the possibility of annexing land into the City in 2025. Camp says that’s another way the growth of Festus can continue to happen.
