FREDERICKTOWN, MO (News First) – The Fredericktown boys basketball team is 2-2 on the season, sporting a third-place finish in the Arcadia Valley Thanksgiving Tournament. One of the players that is leading the team is just a freshman 5’10” guard Tucker Reutzel. Coach Joaby Sikes says Reutzel will be double-teamed on defense quite a bit this year.

“We know that that’s something that we’re gonna probably see a lot this year. Teams are gonna force some other guys on the floor to make plays,” Sikes says. “And we’ll have some tricks up our sleeve and some things that we can do to try to help get him the ball. And honestly, Tucker’s a great player and he’s also a humble kid. And he’s willing us to share the basketball and not just stick his head down and throw up garbage shots. And then rely on his teammates to be making some plays. And so that’s what I like most about Tucker.”

Fredericktown will next play Friday night on the road at the 2-1 Perryville Pirates. Also, coming up soon for the Blackcats is the 69th Bob Sechrest Jr. Central Christmas Tournament in Park Hills. Fredericktown will be one of 16 teams vying for the coveted tournament championship, starting the day after Christmas with Championship Day set for New Year’s Eve in Park Hills.
