BELLEVIEW, MO (News First) – Eleven fire districts were dispatched to a commercial structure fire at the First Baptist Church in Belleview Monday night (Dec 9th) at around 9:47 pm. The Pilot Knob Fire Protection District Engine 7562 was the first apparatus to arrive to find heavy fire visible from the church steeple, with fire extending into the attic. Interior fire suppression operations were initiated and supplemented by the arrival of our automatic aid companies. The fire was controlled in approximately one and a half hours, with no injuries reported.

Due to the fire occurring within a church, the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office was notified and requested to respond to investigate the fire. The fire was determined to be accidental with no foul play suspected. Unfortunately, the building suffered significant smoke and water damage.

The Pilot Knob Fire Protection District, Belgrade Volunteer Fire Department, Bismarck Fire Protection District, Caledonia Volunteer Fire Department, Doe Run Fire Protection District, Farmington Missouri Fire Department, Iron County Ambulance District, Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Ironton Fire Department, Potosi Fire Protection District, and Wolf Creek Fire Protection District were dispatched to the scene.
