ST LOUIS (News First) – The Missouri Tigers basketball team gave a valiant effort but it wasn’t enough as Illinois edged Mizzou 80-77 Sunday afternoon at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. The Illini had a 5-point lead at the break 37-32. Kasparas Jakucionis led Illinois in scoring with 21. Kylan Boswell chipped in with 16. Illinois also shot 22 of 23 from the free throw line. Tony Perkins and Mark Mitchell led the Tigers with 18-points apiece and Tamar Bates had 17. 

 Illinois moves to 8-3 and will play Chicago State at home in Champaign next Sunday afternoon. Missouri had their 10-game win streak snapped and their record dropped to 10-2. M.U. has one more game before their SEC Conference schedule begins. Next Monday night at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, the Tigers will play the 4-8 Alabama State Hornets.
