BISMARCK, MO (NewsFirst) — The Bismarck Superintendent’s Office released a letter on the school’s Facebook page Saturday afternoon indicating that a student threated to shoot people in the school. According to the letter, the district was made aware of a message sent on Friday. The school was not in session on Friday. However, the district says the situation was immediately passed on to the school resource officers who began investigating the report. Law enforcement subdued the threat before the day’s end, according to the letter.
Dr. Michael Silvy, Superintendent of Schools at Bismarck School District, expressed his gratitude towards students, parents and staff for taking similar situations seriously and reporting what they have seen and heard. He also thanked the Bismarck School Community and urged them to keep working with the school district to keep their kids and families safe.
This is not the first time that Dr. Silvy has had to send such letters to families during his short tenure at Bismarck School District. At least two instances in the Spring of this year also required law enforcement involvement. However, Silvy emphasized that their collective efforts have allowed staff and law enforcement to act quickly and keep students safe.
