CARBONDALE, Illinois. (NewsFirst) — The Newman Catholic Student Center will be hosting its 55th annual Thanksgiving Day meal from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23.

“Dinner is available to everyone in the community,” event coordinator J.P. Dunn said. “We have some people that come in and sit down for a meal, others that pick-up a to-go meal, and we also make deliveries.”

There is no cost to those receiving the meals, but donations are always welcome.

Volunteers are also welcome! Those who would like a delivery or volunteer should contact the Newman Center at 618-529-3311.

Carterville Community Center will also be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those interested can contact the Carterville Water and Sewer Department by calling 618-985-2011. If you would like to volunteer, then contact the Carterville Ministerial Alliance at 618-985-3040.

Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home of Du Quoin will be hosting its third annual dinner at the Elks Lodge on 300 Shagbark Road.

The American Legion of Benton will be serving meals starting at noon on Thanksgiving Day. It is dine-in only. Call at 618-438-0861 for additional information.

Another Thanksgiving community meal will be held by the Knights of Columbus Hall No. 988 in Murphysboro, Illinois.

Those interested in the meal or volunteering may contact the St. Andrews Church rectory at 618-687-2012. Activities will begin at 9:30 AM Thanksgiving Day.

The Marion Ministerial Alliance will be partnering with the St. Joseph Catholic Church to serve dinners from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. There is no cost to attend. Donations are welcome.

The dinner will be held at the Marion Ministerial Alliance, located at 103 E Calvert St. Deliveries are only available for those in the Marion School District, however, if someone wants to pick up a dinner, they can call 618-993-8419.
